About the function space

Established in 1854 in one of Ballarat's most historic streetscapes, The George has played a key part in Ballarat's social history. Troops met in the dining room in 1854 to plan the siege of the Eureka Stockade!

Functions these days are much more convivial, with great service and facilities.

Named after one of the original owners Francis Herring, the Herring Room oozes with opulence and old world charm. A marble bar, gorgeous twinkling chandeliers and period finishes make for a breathtaking function space.

The room layout is long and spacious, and the private adjoining balcony is a beautiful spot for alfresco drinks with your guests.
