About the function space

This iconic venue was originally located on George Street, but fell victim to mass demolition during the outbreak of the plague in 1900.

It was rebuilt in its current location of The Rocks, and still retains its Edwardian architecture and some of its gorgeous original fittings including metal awnings, saloon doors and etched signage.

Nestled in the bottom bar of The Australian Hotel is The Alcove, which is a great nook for parties. The quirky area boasts old wooden church pews and lengthy tables to host any feast or cocktail party.

Our food is made in-house and is delectably fresh. The main bar is easily accessible, and less than a metre away.
