About the function space

PJ O'Brien's Side Bar brings to Southgate an upmarket bar, lounge and dining venue which will entice those who enjoy premium service, product and ambience.

The Upper Lounge is an elevated lounge area perfect for smaller functions featuring dark wood panelling, comfy seating and an open fire place.

The area is perfect for stand-up or sit down events (up to 40 people) and can be completely closed off for private functions.

Side Bar's catering menu includes freshly shucked oysters, tapas, and other delectable chef prepared morsels of heaven. To complement this, our quality wines, beers, spirits and cocktails will delight.

P.J. O'Brien's next door has a great party vibe with live entertainment, so you can party on there if the mood takes you.

Music options for your function at PJ's are as follows:

1. Utilise our free Nightlife music system with over 10,000 songs. It is staff-operated but you can supply a playlist or request a genre so you can kick back and relax when your function is in progress.

2. If live music is your thing, organise your own soloist or duo.

After your function go through a door in the Lower Lounge over to P.J. O'Brien's and voila, your party kicks on with our cover bands who rock out until 2ish with a great mix of current tunes and classic retro hits. The bands start on 6pm Friday and 8pm Saturday, so by the time you and your guests enter it will be pretty packed and a fun vibe. (Licensed until 3am, space permitting).
