About the function space

Originally built by convicts in 1827 just twenty years after Hobart's settlement, The Brunswick remains an integral part of Tasmania's social history.

True to its convict origins, it initially operated as an illegal alcohol shop under the title of Brunswick Wine Vaults. In 1831 it began trading under its current name and is now the oldest operating example of the once plentiful drinking venues that lined Liverpool St in the 1800s.

The Brunswick has been refurbished in warm modern tones which compliment the original sandstone and brick fireplaces and walls.

It's a beautiful and special backdrop for a function. The Dining Room has intricate carpets, charcoal walls and leadlight windows; and is a stone's throw from the bar, while maintaining exclusivity.

House made function food will give your guests something delicious and fresh to wash down with drinks from the bar.
